From disadvantaged to educated

I grew up knowing what it meant to lack options. Opportunities felt distant, and education often seemed reserved for people whose lives looked different from mine. Still, I held onto the belief that learning could open doors my circumstances had closed.

Through SHEF, I found support that met me where I was. Mentorship, access, and encouragement helped me stay focused when the path felt uncertain. Each lesson became more than schoolwork. It became proof that my background did not define my future.

There were setbacks that made me question whether I belonged in classrooms filled with possibility. But every challenge also taught me persistence. I learned to ask for help, to keep showing up, and to treat every small win as fuel for the next step.

My family watched me grow with pride. What started as my personal fight for education slowly became a shared hope for everyone around me.
